When the doctor put my husband on a low sodium diet, I had to learn to cook again. The doc said nothing out of a can or a box, and no seasoning packets. Those things were staples in my pantry.
Now we actually prefer the new seasonings I came up with. This one is among our favorites.
Green Beans with New Potatoes
In a slow cooker combine:
- 2 pounds fresh green beans
- 1 pound new potatoes
- 1.5 tsp season salt
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 thinly sliced onion OR 2 tsp onion powder
- 1.5 tsp Orginal Mrs. Dash or your favorite salt-free seasoning
- 2/3 cup low sodium chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Toss all ingredients to coat everything.
Cook on low for 6 hours, or on high for 3 hours.
